Pellacraft directors Sam Pella and Nik Pella are preparing to take on The Big QMC Abseil in support of Nottingham Hospitals Charity and in memory of their much-loved colleague, Kayleigh.
The challenge will see Sam and Nik take in the views across Nottingham from the top of the Queen’s Medical Centre before making a courageous 100-foot descent down the side of one of the UK’s tallest hospitals.
Kayleigh was part of Pellacraft for more than 20 years and was far more than a colleague. She was a much-loved member of the Pellacraft family and a “bonus sister” to Sam and Nik. Her loss continues to be deeply felt by everyone who knew and worked alongside her.
“When Kayleigh was diagnosed, the teams at Nottingham City Hospital, the Oncology Department and Nottingham Hospitals Charity provided her with incredible care, compassion and support,” said Sam. “Their help meant so much to Kayleigh and to all of us who loved her. We will always be grateful for everything they did.”
The money raised will help Nottingham Hospitals Charity continue its vital work across Queen’s Medical Centre, Nottingham City Hospital, Nottingham Children’s Hospital and Ropewalk House. The charity funds enhanced facilities, specialist equipment, medical research and additional support for thousands of patients and their families throughout Nottinghamshire.
By taking on the abseil, Sam and Nik hope to give something back to the people who supported Kayleigh while also helping other patients and families facing difficult journeys of their own.
Sam added: “We know Kayleigh would probably think we were slightly mad for doing this, but it feels like a fitting way to honour her memory and support a cause that means so much to us.
“Any donation, no matter how large or small, would be incredibly appreciated. Every contribution will help Nottingham Hospitals Charity continue its fantastic work and will mean so much to us as we take on this challenge for Kayleigh.”
