Giving Lanyards a Second Life – Sustainably and Responsibly

By Sam Pella

We believe great promotional products shouldn't cost the earth, not just in price, but in environmental impact too.

That’s why we’re proud to offer Closed-Loop Lanyard Recycling: a simple, effective, and eco-conscious way to reduce waste and give lanyards a meaningful second life.

Whether you’re running a one-off event or managing a large-scale exhibition, this scheme allows you to provide branded lanyards and do your bit for the planet.

What is Closed-Loop Recycling?

Closed-loop recycling is exactly what it sounds like: a circular system where materials are reused again and again, never ending up in a landfill.

In the case of the Closed Loop Lanyard, it means:

•  Polyester-based lanyards and wristbands are returned to us after use.
•  They’re stripped down into their raw materials here in the UK.
•  The fabric is processed into raw pellets to be reused or remade into new products.
•  Metal clips and plastic fasteners are carefully removed and reused on future lanyards.

So, nothing goes to waste, and everything gets a fresh start.

What Parts Are Recycled?

•  Polyester fabric is broken down and recycled into plastic pellets.
•  Clips and fasteners aren’t discarded—they’re sorted, cleaned and reused.
•  Any non-recyclable elements are either reused or responsibly disposed of.

It’s a practical, sustainable process with a low carbon footprint.

How Can You Take Part?

It’s easy:

1.  Choose a polyester or RPET lanyard from our range when placing your order.
2.  Let your event team know about the Closed Loop Recycling scheme.
3.  After the event, return clean lanyards to: Closed Loop Recycling, c/o Unit 4 Ashmount Industrial Centre, Castle Park, Flint, Flintshire, CH6 5XA

Support for Larger Events

Planning a large exhibition or conference? Then there is even more great stuff to tell you:

We can create a free template for card recycling bins that you can customise and use at your event to encourage lanyard returns. They're easy to order and reusable for future shows.

Need help sourcing bins? Ask our experienced team members for more information.

Why It Matters

With sustainability more important than ever, the Closed Loop Recycling scheme lets you offer a tangible green solution to your clients and event attendees.

It’s a simple way to:

•  Reduce Environmental Impact: Minimise waste and promote sustainability.
•  Demonstrate Responsibility: Show your commitment to eco-friendly practices.
•  Support UK Industry: All recycling processes are carried out within the UK, reducing carbon footprint.
